Reference Institute for Bioanalytics (RfB)
The Reference Institute for Bioanalytics (RfB) – part of the Foundation for Pathobiochemistry and Molecular Diagnostics (SPMD) – is Germany’s official provider of External Quality Assurance (EQA) in laboratory medicine. Founded in 1971, with sites in Bonn, Cologne, and Hanover, RfB is accredited according to ISO 17043 and listed by the German Medical Association (BÄK). All procedures comply with strict national and international standards. RfB also operates two calibration laboratories accredited to ISO 17025 and ISO 15195, ensuring highest accuracy, reliability, and full traceability, with listings in the international JCTLM database. Through more than 800 analytes across clinical chemistry, immunology, microbiology, and molecular genetics, RfB supports laboratories worldwide in achieving precise, comparable, and quality-assured diagnostic results.
